Frost Bite was initially planned to be released for a limited time from March 2020 to June 2020.They were said to taste like girl scout cookies, and on other occasions, Mountain Dew. The Doritos Quest tortilla chips were sweeter than salty. This is the third Mountain Dew flavor exclusively released at a retail store, the first being Typhoon's 2011 Back by Popular DEWmand re-release (another Walmart exclusive) and the second being the Dollar General exclusive Maui Burst. Doritos Quest was a campaign held in 2008 when Doritos debuted a mystery flavor called 'Quest.' The flavor was later identified as Original Mountain Dew.This flavor was leaked long before its release on the Dew Drinker Discord.Speculation began circulating in mid-2023 that Frost Bite Zero Sugar had been discontinued but this was not confirmed. A week later, another leak from a Mountain Dew fan group on Facebook revealed that Frost Bite Zero Sugar was officially set to release on March 22nd, 2021. A few days after the leak, it was confirmed by a Pepsi employee on the Dew Drinker Discord that it was planned to be released sometime around April 2021, and would be available in 12-packs and 20-ounce bottles. In January 2021, a SmartLabel listing for a 20-ounce bottle of Frost Bite Zero Sugar was leaked. It was officially released to Walmart stores in the United States on March 23rd, 2020 as a permanent flavor, and was sold in 12-packs, 24-pack cubes, 16.9-ounce bottle multipacks, and 20-ounce Sidekick bottles. Also, the employee also gave a statement about the release, stating that it would get released in Walmart stores and mentioning a release date of April 2020. On January 15th, 2020, in a r/MountainDew Reddit post, Frost Bite was leaked by a PepsiCo employee named "mtndewinsider," showing an advertisement of a 16.9-ounce bottle of Frost Bite to which he later received as a 20-ounce test sample bottle. However, the community and moderation team prevented the leak's spread, both to prevent the drink's launch from potentially getting canceled (based on what happened to Happy Dew Year), as well as for the safety of the leaker.
Though unreleased, it is purportedly similar to the VooDEW line of flavors. Riddlers Brew is a mystery flavor of Mountain Dew. It was originally slated to release of the film The Batman in 2021, but its release was scrapped due to the films delay and 'licensing issues'.
